After the Sandy hook School Shooting, we realized we needed to make changes to all the kitchen entrance doors of each location in the district. They were solid doors with little side visibility to see who was on the other side of door before opening. I met with the administration and attended the Wellness meetings to discuss improving and securing each location door. We then had all the doors retrofitted with visibly panels in order to see who was outside before opening. Now, staff members have swipe keys programed with schedules for them to enter and all other visitors must go through the security booths at the entrance of the schools. No doors are permitted to be propped open at any time and all screen doors have been removed.
