When I arrived on site in August, I noticed they did not have any type of recognition or reward system for practicing “SAFE” actions. I initiated a “Safety Star” program where leadership hands out a “Safety Star Card” when they “catch” them being safe. When they hand them out, they make a really big deal and gets the employees excited about being “caught” practicing SAFE. Employees then turn them into various boxes around the resort. We started in December, as of March 31, we have handed out 73 cards and pull two winners each month (one from the hotels, and one from the park) we issue them “Rewards Cards” that are good at 9 locations resort-wide and recognize them quarterly with a “Star Lunch” where we also recognize our Shining Stars of the Month (Employee of the month). This promotes a SAFE culture and creates excitement around being SAFE!
