There is one thing I try to always tell the team and that is: “If you see it, Say it.”
This starts in the office with the management team, if you see someone doing something that could potentially get them hurt than say it right away and stop the employee in their tracks.
It’s also moves down to the staff when working together. So I will often see if a staff member isn’t wearing their PPE , like a cut glove another staff member will say “hey put the glove on before someone sees you not wearing it.”
Something that we have implemented is having oven mitts hanging beside all of the hot equipment, like warmer, rotisserie oven, and pizza oven. This was to promote them to use the gloves for anything that may be hot, it takes away the need to wonder around to look for safety equipment, and if it’s not found they’re not using something like paper towel to grab the hot item.
Its helping them make sure they can make safe decisions.
