Just this past week we had an emergency situation which occurred in our retail operation. Our production manager, Deb took immediate action. A special needs student had a seizure in our retail operation and Deb was able to immediately get support from teachers, nurse, so that 911 could be called. She assisted with timing of the seizure so that thorough info could be given to the paramedics when they arrived. Despite the intensity of this, Deb was the only person working in the Dog Haus (retail operation) and had to think and react fast. She calmly closed the gate to the entrance of the Dog Haus when the paramedics arrived and asked all students with purchases in hand to go over to the cafe to pay. She alerted the team in the cafe that there was a medical emergency which is why she directed students to their location. She knew not to touch the student but was able to confirm he did not hit his head and was provided with as much privacy as possible. Truly our hero of the day! Being able to react quickly and calmly to an emergency and take action turned an emergency situation into a positive outcome.
