A couple of years ago a customer approached us to explain that he and another customer had a severe peanut allergy. They explained that they feared for their safety when food was on the menu with peanuts as an ingredient. We decided to make the restaurant and hopefully, the whole building peanut-free.
We now do not buy peanut products or make dishes with peanuts as an ingredient. We also stopped selling any confectionary with peanuts as an ingredient. When buying new products, we always check with suppliers if they contain peanuts.
We make our own nut butter from almonds and use this in smoothies and satay sauce.
We also asked the vending company to cease selling confectionary with peanuts in the vending machines.
We sent out a communication to the whole building explaining the changes and why and asked them to not bring in any products from home with peanuts.
The two colleagues were very happy with our actions and they feel we made their workplace a safer place for them.
